Hi, I'm Heather Downie.
I created How To Harp for people just like you...

When I was 6 years old, my Mum took me to see the ballet. She wanted a little ballerina, but instead she got a wee girl who pestered her for a harp until I got my first one when I was 15. We couldn’t afford lessons but I practiced non-stop and passed the audition to study at one of the top creative arts institutes in the world when I was 17…..The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland…..where now, I’m the Principal Scottish Harp Tutor!!

I have the qualifications and have played all over the world, but I’m not your typical stuffy and strict teacher. I’ll teach you the right things in the right way, but I'm all about keeping it warm, friendly, and fun. Top-level teaching from an experienced professional should be available to everyone no matter your level, budget, background or location, and this is why I created How To Harp!!
